Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children food packing event was so good. We packaged about 10,000 meals in the an hour. You have an assembly line where you add chicken boullion with vitamins in, dehydrated veggies, a cup of soy and a cup of rice. Then you weigh it and seal the bag. They come down with all the rice, vegs., and soy on pallets. The boxes go out on pallets too. We saw a picture of an 8 year old boy who weighed 19 pounds after being on the program that gave him a cup of food every day for 6 months, he looked like our kids and weighed 60 pounds(I think that was the weight-I'm terrible with numbers.) They work with missionaries and World Vision to get the food to places - maybe Haiti because of the hurricane that went through. They do not work with any governments - they did once and that was the one shipment that they lost :( ! It is very cool organization. Grant's class was going today to package food, so I am anxious to hear his perspective. So if you want them to come to your town, just give them a call! All their food is packaged by volunteers! It's great way for a community to come together.

Ok, I meant to say I checked out the "website." I hadn't heard of them before. A very neat thing to do.

What an awesome project, Steph. It was so neat to read about this. I will think about those kids every time I see that cool plaque you brought to me last week. That is so beautiful!
