Curled up with my coffee and my Bible study, I felt the jolt of the question. It was as if I stepped out in the rain on this cold wet day without protection. It was a wake up call, to me. I have been trying to find answers to life's questions - really trying to figure out where God was coming from. In a sense, trying to figure out why certain things happen in my life and the life of others. And then this question:
What do you think you'd do if you thought you had God completely figured out?

Wow.
The author goes on to say: "Consider afresh that God was just as intentional about what He didn't tell us in Scripture as what He did. You might say that what is missing and unexplained on the pages of Scripture is in some ways just as inspired as what you find in ink. Who else is so brilliant, so multidimensional and gloriously mysterious that you could spend your entire life studying and never grasp His vastness?"(Beth Moore: Stepping Up A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent)
Wow.
I think sometimes I have to have an answer for everything. I try to figure out why stuff happens. I think that by doing this I am trying to compartmentalize God! I don't want a God that fits in a box! I was putting my God in a box - it was a big one but a box none the less. He already broke out of a box for me. He came into a box(a human body) and broke out of it by overcoming death! I can't shove Him back into a box. If I had God figured out, I am not sure I would worship Him.
This weekend, God showed me, Isaiah 55: 8-9
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Wow.
Hallelujah! God is greater than my thoughts and my childish, selfish, mortal ways! God does not fit into any space in which I put Him in. My God is bigger! My God is God! I PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
What about you?
What do you think you'd do if you thought you had God completely figured out?

Steph, just this summer I came to love that verse but in The Message translation: "I don't think the way you think. The way you work, isn't the way I work."
WOW! And what a relief that he doesn't!
I don't think I want to figure God out. Like finding out how a magic trick works not only breaks the magic but jades the person who believed. That is why I do not watch those shows that reveal how a trick is done. And with God, I don't need to know how He does it, I just need to know He is always there, surrounding me with His love, peace, hope and faith.
